Custom Wooden Medals: A Better Way to Reward Athletes
Most tournament medals come from the same place. Mass-produced overseas, picked from a catalog, shipped in bulk. They end up on a shelf alongside every other medal that looks exactly the same. Nothing wrong with that, but nothing memorable about it either.
Ours are different. We design and craft every medal right here in Canada, one event at a time. Each one is laser-cut from real wood, built around your logo and your event identity. When an athlete receives one of these, they notice. It's not the same generic medal they've seen a hundred times. And that's kind of the point.
Made Here, Made for You
When you order medals from an overseas supplier, you're choosing from a catalog. A stock design, maybe a custom engraved plate, and a long lead time with very little flexibility. You get what you get.
When you work with us, every medal is designed from scratch in our workshop. Your logo, your event name, your sport, all laser-cut into the shape and size you want, laser-engraved into the surface, or both. No catalog, no compromises.
It's local. Your medals are crafted in our shop, not in a factory on the other side of the world. You're dealing directly with the person who makes them. No sales rep, no middleman.
It's fast. Because everything is made in-house, turnaround is measured in days, not weeks. Need a last-minute order? We can usually make it work.
It's lighter and more comfortable. Hang a metal medal around a kid's neck after a long tournament day and it pulls. A wooden medal is noticeably lighter, which makes a real difference for younger athletes who wear them proudly for hours.
It looks good on a wall. Natural wood has a warmth that metal doesn't. The laser engraving gives it texture and detail you can feel with your fingers. And because every piece of wood has its own grain, no two medals are exactly alike. Each one is slightly unique, even within the same order. These medals get pinned to bedroom walls, displayed on shelves, and posted on social media. That's free exposure for your event, year after year.
It's eco-friendly. Our medals are cut from PureBond® hardwood plywood, formaldehyde-free and made with a soy-based adhesive. No heavy metals, no plastic, no excess packaging.
What You Actually Get
Every medal comes with a neck ribbon in the color of your choice, attached with a metal clasp. If you want to go further, premium options are available: custom ribbons printed with your logo, custom dimensions, sewn attachment instead of a metal clasp, and more.
Medals are available up to 4½ inches (114 mm) in diameter, in round or fully custom cut-out shapes. The design includes laser engraving for text and graphics, and laser cutting for the outer shape, so every detail of your logo and event identity is built right into the medal itself.
How It Works (It's Simpler Than You'd Think)
If you've ordered custom medals before, you know it can be a drawn-out process. Back and forth with a sales rep, digital mockups that don't quite show the final product, minimum orders in the hundreds. This is different.
Step 1: Tell us about your event. Sport, quantity, ribbon color, and upload your logo. That's it. A quick form or an email.
Step 2: See your actual medal. Not a digital rendering. Your real medal, laser-cut and engraved from wood, photographed and sent to you within 1–2 business days. You see exactly what your athletes will receive. We refine until it's perfect, no charge.
Step 3: We produce and ship. Once you approve, the full order is ready in 1–3 business days. Free shipping across Canada and the United States.
The minimum order is 40 medals at $6.00 each ($240 total). For most tournaments, that covers your top finishers across all divisions.
Who's Ordering These?
Mostly sports organizers. Hockey tournaments, ski races, cycling events, running races, martial arts competitions. The kind of events where athletes already have a drawer full of identical metal medals and are ready for something that actually stands out.
But they also work for any event where you're recognizing achievement: corporate team-building days, school competitions, community fundraisers, obstacle courses. If there's a podium (or even just a finish line), there's a place for a custom medal.
Planning Your Order: A Quick Timeline
Here's a realistic timeline to keep in mind when planning:
- 4–6 weeks before your event: Reach out with your logo and event details. This gives plenty of breathing room, but honestly, we've turned orders around much faster.
- 1–2 business days: You receive a photo of your actual medal for approval.
- 1–3 business days after approval: Your full order is produced and shipped.
Last-minute? It happens. Get in touch and we'll see what we can do. The turnaround is often faster than people expect.

The easiest way to start is to request a free mockup. Send your logo, tell us about your event, and you'll have a photo of your actual medal within a couple of days. No commitment, no cost. Just a real medal with your branding on it, so you can decide with confidence.
